Race Reports

McLean’s Island 12hr, 10th October 2009

Well my first goal of the season was achieved yesterday afternoon when I won the McLean’s island 6hr by 2mins over Scotty (the beast) Wilder After rain all week it ended up being a sunny day to greet us on the start line, I was on board a new anthem x ltd that Richard had let me use kindly as I have never really race on a fully before I was prepare for the couple of hours riding to come to terms with riding the new bike. For once in a very long time I didn't try and is a hero on the first lap and just sat just off the front group holding a solid form. Once Scotty court up on the 2nd lap I could see this becoming a very fast long day at the office of pain. After a few issues with each of our bikes it came down to the last lap and we were still joined at the hips and Scotty was going through a bit of a bad spell so I took that as a good time to lift the pass in the single track and see is he could keep up after a while the cap was 10m then 50m then 100m and then I just dropped it as hard as I could until the finish line, I went through the tent site with 22mins to go and everyone was yell at the to do another lap so I gave it a go and finished 20sec short of getting another lap in, So instead of being 1lap and 2mins up on Scotty I was 2mins up and rapped that I have finally beating Scotty and doing a whole 6hr on 1 stop to do up my cleats. Thanks to Richard for giving me the bike and support out on track and Ollie for preparing my bike the days before, norm for topping me up with some more peak fuel. Hopefully this is a good start a year of mtbing and just clowning around by me and the team. Cheers a very broken
