The Riders

Ritchie Bath - Giant/Pushbikes Ambassador

I am extremely excited to join the Pushbikes team as a Pushbikes NZ/Giant Bicycles Ambassador for 2017. Cycling has become a huge and very positive part of my life, and I am looking forward to playing my part in getting more people out and about enjoying the great place we live in.

I started cycling around 6 years ago after playing competitive golf for 10+ years, originally as a way to feel better/get fit and also as a way to clear my head after a busy day at work. Little did I know that I would become completely hooked and bikes would become a big part of daily life.

I now commute 25 km's to work daily and spend another 10+ hours training on top of this during the week. I have shifted towards mountain bike events but in the past have competed in multisport and road events too. I like to try new things and am always ready to sign up for the next crazy event that scares and challenges me.

In February this year I raced in the Wembo World 24hr Solo MTB Champs in Rotorua, the Hamner 8hr Solo Event in April, and raced in the Ashburton 6hr MTB Champs following this. I am building up for the Mcleans 12hr Solo race in October and the St James Epic MTB race in January 2017 before having another crack at the 24hr format in March 2017.

I train and race on a singlespeed mountain bike, so was super excited to see Giant are releasing their XTC Advanced 29 this year with a singlespeed setup option. With the Pushbikes team, I am really looking forward to building the perfect machine. I will mix the riding up with a Giant TCX cross bike, and continue to crank up the training km's on the TCR Advanced road bike.

If you see me out and about in the Pushbikes kit, please come and say hi. I'd love to share some riding with fellow Pushbikes customers and to share stories. Thanks, Pushbikes NZ and Giant Bikes for the ongoing support, your enthusiasm and passion for riding has been obvious since the first time I entered your Rangiora store in 2013 and I am proud to be an ambassador for all that you do.

Libby Hurley - Giant/Pushbikes Ambassador

I have grown up in North Canterbury and it seems I still can’t get away from the place. I was a competitive Irish Dancer for 13 years making it to International Competitions, but when I gave that lifestyle up I got into cycling & anything outdoors. My high school P.E. Teacher got me on my first roadie, which I will be forever thankful for! Last February, I achieved a big personal goal of completing the Coast to Coast 2-day Individual, but this year I’m aiming to focus more on my MTB & roadie training. I regularly go out riding with the North Canterbury Cycling Club, which is a really valuable and enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone at beginner level or above.Hello! This year I have been given the opportunity to represent Pushbikes as their ambassador which I’m really excited about! I love training with anyone and everyone, so chatting to people promoting Pushbikes and cycling suits me perfectly.

This year, I aim to encourage people (new and experienced) while out and about, and to compete in particularly Le Race, Graperide, Queenstown Classic, Spring Challenge and Rakahuri Rage! I ride a Giant Envie Advanced 1 and Giant XTC Advanced 29er 1.

Seonaigh Conchie - Pushbikes Ambassador

Seonaigh ConchieI have been involved in cycling since my 20's (a few years ago now). I started in triathlons in my teens, moved into XC mountain biking in my 20's and then into a few years racing road bikes. I've been lucky enough over the years to ride with a lot of experienced riders who've taught me so much. In the past 18 months, I have dabbled in adventure racing which got me back on a mountain bike, I'll admit it was a bit of baptism by fire, thrown in the deep end a little, but WOW what a rush riding some spectacular country. I have competed in Mtb bike events such as the McLean's 12hr, Timaru 10hr, Rakahuri Rage 6hr and the Hanmer 8hr.

I am lucky enough to ride with some pretty awesome local guys who have taught me some of the finer points of riding, we are so lucky out here in North Canterbury where we are truly blessed with some awesome country to ride. I love having an adventure thrown in there just for fun, and have been fortunate enough to have been invited on some awesome ones, Queen Charlotte - a great mountain bike ride, the Ghost Trail - a must do ride for mountain bikers.

I am really excited to be given a platform to which hopefully I am able to inspire or help riders use their bikes a lot more and to use their local bike shop for more than just purchasing a bike. I am what could be considered a more mature rider (old), the beauty of riding is that anyone of any age can ride a bike.

Ben Oliver - Sponsored Racer

I am 19 years old and have been competitively racing mountain bikes for 7 years. I have represented New Zealand in 3 World Championships and numerous World Cup events. I got into Mountain biking by watching my parents do local races, so when was old enough I wanted to join in, too. Nothing beats a day riding the Craigieburn trails, racing 100 people off the start line in a World cup or winning a big race. My best results are National and Oceania Champion, 10th in a World Cup and being ranked 9th in the World. My goals are to be selected for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and, ultimately, earn a gold medal at the Olympics.

My main goals for next season will be the UCI World Mountain Bike Cup in Cairns, Australia and World Mountain Bike Champs in Nové Město, Czech Repuplic.

Other races will include local racing through the summer, MTBNZ XC Series (Wanaka and Dunedin rounds), NZ National MTB Championships and the Oceania MTB Championships in March.
