Huxster 3-Hour MTB Relay Race

Friday, the 8th of April, was a very busy day at the Huxster 3-Hour MTB Relay held for year 5/6 and 7/8 students at McLeans Island. The change-over was on the grass picnic area at the start of the track with 180 teams and 10 solo riders from 14 schools (370 kids). It was a great atmosphere, and perfect position to see the flow of riders coming through.

The 5 km loop took the riders on 4WD and singletrack, taking about 14-20 minutes to complete. It was awesome to help out, being the lead rider and then a roaming marshal, helping and encouraging them along the way. This event is getting bigger every year. I rode in this event (primary and high school) and enjoyed being part of it as a competitor and now I love to give back my time supporting and helping other kids trying and enjoying the sport of mountain biking.
