Shimano RD-RX717 12 Speed Rear Derailleur

The Shimano GRX RD-RX717 Wireless Di2 Rear Derailleur is designed to give gravel riders the durability and gear range to pursue any off-road exploration that tickles their fancy. This derailleurs wedge shaped body is filled with a low profile Shadow ES stabilizer that produces excellent chain retention and reduced chain slap over rough terrain, and the lower profile construction produces excellent clearance over trail obstacles. Because it is impossible to avoid all impacts, this derailleur is equipped with aluminum skid plates, a wide link structure, and a robust steel alloy pulley cage stuffed with solid pulleys for extra toughness, and this derailleur also has an integrated RD Protection function that will instantly return the derailleur to its original position after a strike happens.

As impressive as the tech put into the rear derailleur design is, perhaps the more impressive thing Shimano has done is to evolve their Di2 drivetrain so it can be used on more bikes. By eliminating much of the wiring that used to be housed within the bike's frame and tucking the battery within a fully encased compartment in the rear derailleur, a truly wireless system has been crafted which can be used on any road, adventure, and gravel bike. In addition to adding strength and reliability, the construction of this rear derailleur adds stiffness in key area's so shifts are incredibly crisp and precise. Last but not least, the long pulley cage is designed specifically for 1x12 speed drivetrains and has the capacity to use a super wide 10-51T cassette so there is plenty of gears on tap to go anywhere a rider wishes to go.
