Senior Salesperson (3IC) - Papanui

Full-time | 39-41 hours per week | Papanui, Christchurch | Ref: 18951

We’re hiring a senior salesperson to join our Papanui store. This is the first step into store leadership: you’ll report directly to the Store Manager, run the store on one rostered day a week, and be developed toward Assistant Store Manager and then Store Manager.

Papanui is growing, and we need senior salespeople who lead from the shop floor. You’ll sell, build long-term customer relationships, run the store on your rostered day in charge, and share responsibility when the Store Manager is away. You’ll switch easily between serving customers, following up on leads and orders, and keeping the floor stocked and presentable without being asked.

Hours:

This role is 39-41 hours a week. You’ll need to be available to work at least one weekend day every week, with flexibility when needed.

What The Role Involves:

• Selling bikes, parts, accessories and workshop services, and hitting personal and store sales targets
• Delivering excellent customer service in store, by phone and online
• Running the store as person in charge on your rostered day each week and when covering absences, including opening and closing, cash reconciliation and finance deals, directing the team, and resolving customer issues within your authority
• Coaching newer salespeople on product knowledge and sales process
• Stock management, including restocking, inwards goods and stocktakes
• Keeping merchandising, store presentation and housekeeping to standard

You’ll have a development plan from your first 90 days, reviewed every six months. Promotion depends on demonstrated leadership, not sales alone.

What We're Looking For:

• Retail experience in sporting goods, with bike retail strongly preferred
• Good knowledge of bikes and riding, whether through work, racing or your own riding
• Experience leading a shop floor and directing team members
• Cash handling experience, with customer finance applications an advantage
• Available to work at least one weekend day every week and flex if needed
• Clear communication skills and a professional, can-do attitude

Senior Salesperson & Mechanic (3IC) - St Martins

Full-time | 40.5 hours per week | St Martins, Christchurch

We’re hiring a senior team member for our St Martins store who is as comfortable on the workshop stand as they are on the shop floor. This is a 3IC role with a roughly even split between sales and the workshop: you’ll sell and look after customers, carry out proper servicing and repairs, build bikes, and run the store as person in charge every Saturday.

You’ll report directly to the Store Manager and share responsibility when they’re away. St Martins is a smaller store, so we need someone who can move between a customer at the counter, a service on the stand and a bike build without dropping the ball on any of them.

Hours:

This role is 40.5 hours a week, including a Saturday shift every week. St Martins is closed on Sundays.

What The Role Involves:

• Selling bikes, parts, accessories and workshop services, and hitting personal and store sales targets
• Delivering excellent customer service in store, by phone and online
• Completing servicing and repairs to a high standard, including job sheets, booking in and warranty work
• Building new bikes and fitting accessories for bike sales
• Running the store as person in charge every Saturday and when covering absences, including opening and closing, cash reconciliation and finance deals, directing the team, and resolving customer issues within your authority
• Keeping the workshop organised, tidy and running to schedule, and letting the sales team know when it’s fully booked
• Stock management, including restocking, inwards goods and stocktakes
• Keeping merchandising, store presentation and housekeeping to standard

Summer Mechanic - Papanui

Full-time | Fixed-term to April 2027 | Papanui, Christchurch, with occasional cover at St Martins and Rangiora

Summer is our busiest time in the workshop, and we need an experienced mechanic to help us keep up with servicing, repairs and bike builds. You’ll be based at Papanui, with occasional days at our St Martins and Rangiora stores when their workshops need support. Transport between stores can be supplied.

This is a fixed-term role starting now and running through to April 2027, with the possibility of extension depending on the needs of the business.

Hours:

This is a full-time role on a flexible roster, including weekend shifts.

What The Role Involves:

• Completing day-to-day servicing and repairs
• Building new bikes and fitting accessories for bike sales
• Following workshop procedures, including job sheets, booking in and warranty work
• Keeping the workshop organised, tidy and clean
• Liaising with customers about their repairs and ordering parts as needed
• Helping on the sales floor to cover breaks and busy periods
• Supporting the St Martins and Rangiora workshops when required

What We're Looking For:

• At least 1 year of experience working on bikes in a workshop. No formal qualifications required
• Confident with servicing, repairs and bike assembly
• Good knowledge of bikes and riding
• Available to work weekends and flexible across the week
• Happy to work at other stores when needed
• Clear communication skills and a professional, can-do attitude

Part-Time Salesperson - Papanui

Part-time, permanent | Minimum 12 hours per week | Papanui, Christchurch

We’re looking for a part-time salesperson to join our Papanui team, covering weekends plus extra shifts when they come up. This is a permanent position for someone who enjoys helping customers find the right bike and gear.

Hours:

We guarantee a minimum of 12 hours a week. Ideally you’ll be available both Saturday and Sunday. If you can only commit to one weekend day, still apply: we may take on two part-timers to cover our needs. Extra shifts are available during busy periods and to cover leave.

What The Role Involves:

• Selling bikes, parts, accessories and workshop services
• Delivering excellent customer service in store, by phone and online
• Booking in bikes for servicing and handing completed repairs back to customers
• Restocking shelves, receiving freight and helping with stocktakes
• Keeping merchandising, store presentation and housekeeping to standard
• From time to time, light mechanical work such as puncture repairs and bike assembly. Training is provided and it isn’t an expectation of the role

What We're Looking For:

• Customer-facing retail or sales experience
• A genuine interest in bikes and riding
• Available to work weekends, with flexibility for extra shifts
• Reliable, with clear communication skills and a professional, can-do attitude

Previous bike shop experience is an advantage, but not essential for the right person.
