Shimano's new Mountain bike SLX M7000 groupset

In April we showcased the new Shimano SLX M7000 groupset (link) which was coming for the 2017 season. This has now arrived, both on new 2017 bikes and as an aftermarket kit.

Shimano SLX M7000 Groupset

We haven't test ridden the groupset first hand off road, but after a few rides around the carpark and a few builds on new bikes, we are really impressed by it. It's clear the technology of its big brother Shimano M8000 XT has floated down into the new SLX groupset, having many of the same features but at a slightly cheaper price point.

Pricing on SLX groupsets is just $941 for a complete built kit versus $1124 for XT, or $629 for a drivetrain kit versus XT at $809. At these prices, there have already been many people upgrading their bikes in the workshop, and the best thing about Shimano is that it fits across onto your old bike no problems, no new rear hub/wheel upgrades needed.

You can check this out in our bike shop at 501 Papanui Road, Papanui, Christchurch.
