DESCRIPTION
The Bombtrack Tension is a light, quick-handling drop-bar bike built on a double-butted 6061-T6 aluminium frame with a full carbon fork. SRAM's Rival 1x11 groupset keeps the drivetrain clear of mud, and 160 mm hydraulic discs give consistent braking in the wet. Race-width tyres come size-specific, with 650B x 32C Vee XCX on XS and S frames and 700C x 33C Schwalbe X-One Allround on M to XL. At 9.4 kg in size M it is the lightest bike in Bombtrack's drop-bar range, and rack and fender mounts mean it still works as a fast commuter or a bikepacking rig between race weekends.

Who Is the Bombtrack Tension For?
This suits the rider who wants a cyclocross-derived bike that is genuinely light and responsive, without paying for carbon. The stiff alloy frame rewards sprints and holds a line through tight, loose corners, and the single-ring drivetrain removes the front shift that so often causes trouble on a muddy course.
It is equally at home outside race season. New Zealand winters are hard on drivetrains, and a 1x11 setup with hydraulic discs copes well with grit and standing water, while the rack and fender mounts turn it into a quick commuter or a light bikepacking bike. The 11-42T cassette gives enough range for hilly rides despite the race-oriented build.
